Microsoft office professional plus 2013 keeps configuring free. www.makeuseof.com

The problem is that once I finished installing Office , I let my computer install updates. Once those updates were done, the problem I mentioned in the title of this thread started appearing. I've tried all of the techniques that were in this site, but to no avail. It still configures again, and again. Also, I have two papers coming up that I really need to do I know how difficult it is if the Office application does not work fine.

You may repair Office using the following link and check if it works fine:. Note: although the link applies for Office the steps holds good for Office You can uninstall and reinstall Office Professional Plus on the computer. Note : Try to save the fix it tool to the desktop and then run it to remove Office. If fix it tool failed to run, you may try the manual removal of Office step from the above article. Once the uninstallation completes, you may reinstall Office on the computer and check if it works fine.

You may also refer to the thread link below which discusses about the same error:. I hope the above information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. I'm uninstalling Microsoft Office now, but I saw a message before I start the setup. It says I have other Microsoft Office programs installed.

I'm sure I've uninstalled all of them. I've read in some threads that uninstalling other Microsoft Office programs solves the problem.

The problem is where can I find these programs? You may b rowse to the location below and check if you find any edition of Office Office , Office , or Office installed on the computer.

If found, uninstall all the edition and then try to install Office and check if it works fine without any error message. I've tried the uninstall method - twice. The first time I did the old fashioned way. It didn't work. Second time - I used Revo Uninstaller. A friend recommended it to me because it removes left-over files. It worked. For a few days. Then just now, my Microsoft Word is configuring itself again. What should I do now? Start Word application in safe mode and check if it works fine without the configuration window.

To start Word in its application safe, do the following:. If Word application works fine as expected in application safe, you may disable the Add-ins associated to Word application and check if it works fine. I hope it help. Report abuse. Thank you for your suggestions, I will surely get back to you after trying out these possibilities. I tried ALL the above suggestions, but could not get it right. Rohn MVP. In reply to A. User's post on December 19, In reply to Rohn's post on December 19, There are no other Office versions installed in the computer other than Office After running this fix-it, I rebooted the computer twice and ran Word as administrator, then it again showed 'configuring' window.

I waited till it is 'configured' and rebooted once more. User's post on December 20, OK, now that you've confirmed there are no other office installations we can rule that issue out. That leaves Access Rights. Windows has been tightening up granting of "access rights", starting in Vista and they get tighter in Win7 and Win8. Windows apps run from a "generic" registry key called "Current User" to make programming easiers.

When you log in to a specific ID, your registry settings are copied to the "Current User" key. When you shut down, if there have been changes, like installing Office, the current user settings are copied back to your specific ID in the registry. What appears to be happening is that at shut down the settings are not being copied from current user to your specific ID.

Therefore they have to be recreated each time, and you see the "configuring" message. There are also specific folders and files setup under your specific user profile but they are less of a problem. In reply to Rohn's post on December 20, I'm done with you Office !

Holy sh1tballs, Batman! I think you overloaded the poor guy. No, seriously, that was not a rhetorical question Rich Coe. Why would you even post this junk - we the customers want support - not guess work - if you don't know find another fellow in Microsoft to help. This type of software that's so difficult when it's shouldn't be, pushed me into QlikView In reply to Rich Coe's post on January 5,
