The New York Lemon Law allows a refund of 100% of the purchase price if the vehicle’s defect first appears within 12,000 miles. The purchase price is the amount you paid for the vehicle, not its suggested retail price or book value.
Between 12,000 and 18,000 miles, depreciation is calculated at a standard rate of (Mileage – 12,000) x Price / 100,000.
