Substantial Defect
One that impairs the use, value or safety of the vehicle. Stalling, brake failure, steering and persistent electrical faults qualify. A rattle generally does not.
Maserati recalled 27,354 cars in one campaign for a rearview camera that will not display — effectively the entire lineup. When the brand is this small, a single campaign can cover everything they sell.

EXPLORE ↓Maserati built it, but Maserati does not decide it. These four questions decide it, and the repair orders in your glovebox answer all four.

Florida looks for three attempts at the same defect. New York looks for four. Recall work and visits that found nothing both count.
Thirty cumulative days in Florida and in New York. Cumulative, not consecutive, and the days count whether or not anything was fixed.
The defect has to be reported while the vehicle is inside the warranty or rights period. When it was reported matters more than today's date.
Maserati is a Stellantis division, and NHTSA files its campaigns under Maserati North America, Inc. — that is the correct respondent for a demand letter, not Stellantis and not FCA US. It is a small detail that saves time at the outset.
The current lineup is the Grecale, GranTurismo, GranCabrio and MC20. The Ghibli and Quattroporte were discontinued after 2022, and the Levante has gone too. If you are inside a Lemon Law window today, you are almost certainly in one of the first four — which is also where the recent recalls are.
Most Maserati campaigns are module software. Radio software that stops the rearview camera displaying. Park assist software that does the same thing by a different route. Body control module software that misreports the fuel level so the car runs dry and stalls. Software faults are intermittent, and a small dealer network makes them harder to chase.

A recall is the manufacturer acknowledging that a defect exists across a population of vehicles and offering a remedy. It is a public admission of the fault pattern, which makes it useful evidence. What it is not is a Lemon Law claim.
The claim arises from what happened to your vehicle: the defect was reported, the manufacturer was given a reasonable number of attempts to repair it, and it is still there.
Small volumes cut both ways. Recall populations in the 10,000 to 27,000 range span several model years, so per-year US volumes are genuinely small — which means fewer specialists, fewer parts on the shelf and longer waits. Those waits are days out of service, and they count.

The respondent is Maserati North America, not Stellantis.
These are the defect categories that generate the most Lemon Law and warranty claims against Maserati. A vehicle showing one of these is not automatically a claim. A vehicle showing one of these repeatedly and unrepaired usually is.
Two separate campaigns, one covering 27,354 vehicles and one covering 1,710, address rearview camera images that fail to display in reverse — each a federal safety-standard non-compliance rather than a convenience fault.
Radio, Central Vision Park Assist and body control module software account for most recent Maserati recalls, including one campaign that swept in essentially every model the brand sold.
Body control module software can report an incorrect fuel level, letting the car run dry and stall without warning while driving, in a campaign covering 2024 GranTurismo and GranCabrio vehicles.
Fuel gauge misreporting and headlights missing their aim-adjustment caps together account for over 10,500 recalled vehicles, both traced to assembly and electrical faults rather than wear.
Recurring check-engine and warning-light illumination is the complaint Maserati owners raise most. It is owner-reported rather than recall-backed, which makes it a symptom to document rather than a defect finding.
A 2024 GranTurismo campaign covers tire information labels detaching from the driver's B-pillar, leaving owners without the load and pressure data needed to operate the vehicle safely.
Which one applies depends on the state, the facts and what gets negotiated with Maserati North America. All four start with the same free case review.
