Substantial Defect
One that impairs the use, value or safety of the vehicle. Stalling, brake failure, steering and persistent electrical faults qualify. A rattle generally does not.
Stellantis filed 53 recall campaigns covering 2.7 million vehicles in 2025. In 2026 two single campaigns each passed 800,000. And several of them exist only because an earlier recall did not work.

Florida looks for three attempts at the same defect. New York looks for four. Recall work and visits that found nothing both count.
Thirty cumulative days in Florida and in New York. Cumulative, not consecutive, and the days count whether or not anything was fixed.
The defect has to be reported while the vehicle is inside the warranty or rights period. When it was reported matters more than today's date.
Stellantis is a parent company, not a badge. NHTSA files every US campaign under Chrysler (FCA US, LLC). Its current US divisions are Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat and Alfa Romeo — the European badges in the group's global portfolio are not sold here and are irrelevant to a US claim.
The defining pattern across the group is superseded recalls. Campaign 25V741 replaces 23V787 and 24V720 on the same Jeep plug-in hybrids. Campaign 26V189 expands 25V302 and 25V573 on the same Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager airbags. Kia aside, no manufacturer produces this much documentary evidence of repairs that did not work.
A recall that had to be reissued because the first remedy failed is not an allegation you have to prove. It is on the federal record, filed by the manufacturer, and it goes straight to the reasonable-number-of-attempts element of a Lemon Law claim.

A recall is the manufacturer acknowledging that a defect exists across a population of vehicles and offering a remedy. It is a public admission of the fault pattern, which makes it useful evidence. What it is not is a Lemon Law claim.
The claim arises from what happened to your vehicle: the defect was reported, the manufacturer was given a reasonable number of attempts to repair it, and it is still there.
Recall figures move monthly, which is why every number on this page carries a date. What does not move is the structure: one manufacturer entity, six US divisions, and campaigns that routinely span four of them at once because the parts are shared.

These are the defect categories that generate the most Lemon Law and warranty claims across Stellantis' US divisions. A vehicle showing one of these is not automatically a claim. A vehicle showing one of these repeatedly and unrepaired usually is.
Radio software leaves the backup camera blank in reverse across four divisions. Campaign 26V531 covers 844,027 vehicles and is a federal safety-standard violation, not a convenience fault.
Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator electric hydraulic steering pump connectors overheat and can ignite while parked. Campaign 26V363 covers 1,076,999 vehicles, the group's largest single 2026 action.
Stellantis 4xe high-voltage packs can short and burn. Campaign 25V741 covers 320,068 Jeep plug-in hybrids and supersedes two earlier recalls, 23V787 and 24V720, on the same vehicles.
Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager curtain airbags lose pressure through unsealed seams across 293,264 vehicles under campaign 26V189, itself an expansion of two prior recalls that did not resolve it.
A defective trailer tow module can disable trailer lights and trailer brakes on 456,287 Ram pickups, Jeep Wagoneer S and 2026 Cherokee vehicles under campaign 26V059.
Multiple campaigns — the camera blackout, the Charger cluster, the Grand Cherokee hybrid power loss — are remedied only by software updates, producing the repeat dealer visits that build Lemon Law presumptions.
Which one applies depends on the state, the facts and what gets negotiated with FCA US. All four start with the same free case review.

Ask Us Directly ↗The law applies the same way to every brand sold in the state. What differs is the defect pattern, the warranty terms and how hard the manufacturer fights.
